Kielder Water, the largest man-made lake in Europe, is a haven for activities such as cycling, fishing, sailing, riding and watersports. Kielder also has Europe's largest man-made forest which is surrounded by open countryside and wildlife, with red squirrels, deer and rare birds, where you can enjoy walking, sightseeing, mountain hiking, nature safaries and visit the Birds of Prey Centre. There are also a growing number of sculptures & landmarks on display along the walking and cycling trails, such as a camera obscura, 12 bronze rubbing plaques, the award winning Kielder Belvedere and James Turrell's Sky Space. A wide range of events take place here throughout the year, such as husky dog racing, cyclo-orienteering and sailing competitions. For the ultimate activity experience try quad biking, kart rallying, 4x4 off-road driving and paintball combat at nearby Ultra Venture.

Northumberland National Park - A nature reserve stretching from Hadrian's Wall to the Cheviot Hills with superb walking scenery, a variety of wildlife and many historic sites. Nearby Towns - Hexham market town is near Corbridge and Haltwhistle. To the north you can visit the famous Otterburn Mill. National Trust properties - Visit beautiful and historic properties such as Cragside and Wallington. Hadrian's Wall - See Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters Roman sites. Historic Castles - Alnwick Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle in Border Reivers country. Beautiful Coastline - Large unspoilt stretches of white sands in a region of strong Christian Heritage where you can visit Holy Island and the Farne Islands nature reserve. Gardens - Stroll around gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme and see the new Alnwick Garden. Day Trips - Visit County Durham's award winning Beamish Open Air Museum. Fishing - There are a wealth of beautiful Northumbrian rivers available. Walking - Challenging long and short distance walks across hills and uncrowded beaches. Golfing - Our local course in Bellingham, open 7 days a week to visitors, is only 10 minutes drive. This is an 18 hole rolling parkland course with magnificent views and an abundance of natural hazards. With prior notice a day's golf can be arranged. Alternatively you may like to play some of the spectacular courses Northumberland has to offer. Cycling - Enjoy cycle tours on virtually traffic-free lanes, forest roads and bridleways Horse Riding - at the Redesdale Riding Centre Bird Watching - Upland, lowland and coastal species.
